Special Waste includes but is not limited to the following:
Asbestos waste (From a building, structure or unit that is involved with a manufacturer or industrial process.) (Regulated ACM)
- Friable asbestos containing less than 1% asbestos that when dry, can be crumbled, pulverized or reduced to powder by hand pressure.
- Non-friable asbestos containing material that when dry cannot be crumbled, pulverized or reduced to powder by hand.
- Includes: but not limited to, packing materials, gaskets, resilient floor coverings, asphalt roofing products, transite shingles, and transite pipe.
Liquids
- A waste that fails the paint filter test is considered a liquid waste for disposal. No liquids can be directly disposed into a landfill. It will require stabilization at an approved landfill prior to disposal.
- Consumer packaged liquids (i.e.: cases of juice) are exempt from this rule, but should be treated as special waste.
Manufacturing and or industrial wastes
- Resulting from (or incidental to) operations of industry, manufacturing, mining or agriculture.
Plant trash
- Generated from an industrial/manufacturing facility.
Out-dated products/Off spec. products
- Require special handling based on product, customer demand or landfill needs.

- Requires verification that refrigerant has been evacuated.
Fluorescent light bulbs/ ballast
Compressed gas containers
Valves removed, air out 24 hours. Aerosol cans must be punctured. |
